Kevin's Favorite Super Bowl Ad

My favorite Super Bowl ad is from Coca-Cola in 2008—it's called It's Mine.

I really think this ad is creative and imaginative.  Set during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, this ad features the huge helium balloons of Stewie from Family Guy and a character named Underdog both fighting for a giant bottle of Coke.  As they battle through the skies of New York City, people on the ground are mesmerized by what's going on above.  In the end, it turns out that Charlie Brown snags the bottle.

I like this ad because it's cool, creative, and kind of cute.  I've always watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade for as long as I can remember, so this ad kind of reminds me of the holidays, too.  It's great.

Favorite Super Bowl Ad

The Etrade babies are by far the best of all the Super Bowl Ads I've seen throughout my years of the Super Bowl commercials. they are funny and get their point across that Etrade is so easy to use, even a baby can do it.

Fav super bowl ads

I'd like it to go on record that I actually have several favorite Superbowl ads, just as I have several favorite restaurants or even several favorite pairs of jeans; and to chose one just isn't fair. I found both the "seductive fiat" and "finger licking Doritos" wildly entertaining and who can forget Budweiser's "dog butlers". Classic. But I'm going to single out Audi's "Green Police" commercial, which is selling the Audi A3 TDI, as well as the "going green" movement. The commercial is humorous while cleverly instilling a sort of scare amongst viewers, which says, there's something wrong with you if you don't support going green. And what better way to support the green movement than buying the green car of the year, the Audi A3. (check out the hot tub part, it gets me every time. so does the emission sniffing aardvark)  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ky8x0ykF_tQ

Favorite Superbowl Commercial

After watching numerous times, I got hooked on old spice and its ending whistle so much so that it has become my text notification. The reason the commercial was a vital hit, was because its unusual method to target men by targeting women, and the actor, Isaiah Mustafa looking at the audience with his verbal humor: "The Man Your Man Could Smell Like." The change of setting scenes was also appealing; something other commercials dont do or have.

Favorite Superbowl Commercial

It was a toss up between The Magic Fridge and The Real Men of Genius series. But in the end, the catchy theme song and slow motion men in action won over my heart. This is not only a tribute to the Silent Killer Gas Passer, but the entire Real Men of Genius series, for an entertaining string of high quality Bud Light advertisements. If no one else found them funny, perhaps it was the fact that I was watching this particular one with my father - the King of the Whiffer. Good times....

Favorite Superbowl Ad

I decided to go back in time. This is years before I was born but when I thought of superbowl ads this was one of the first ones to pop in my head. It's a Coca Cola classic starring Mean Joe Green.

goofy websites that should be fixed for OBVIOUS reasons

these are some websites that i found. they all are restaurants in the palos heights area and could benefit from learning the 7 rules on making a good website.

http://ednjoes.com/  -rule number 7 (there was a lot of empty spaces on the side)

http://www.eatatcapri.com/ -rule number 2 (not attractive at all, total turn off)

http://www.limestonecitygrillandlounge.com/index.php/home  -rule number 3 (there was a top menu bar and a side menu bar)

http://popsbeef.com/ -rule number 1 (I was over whelmed at first and didn’t really know where to go because of the complexity)

http://www.bonapit.com/page/index  -rule number 6 (tells when the restaurant opens but doesn’t say when they close, also very vague in many other parts of the website)

http://peteysbungalow.com/index.htm  -rule number 4 (all the tabs appear the same except the menu tab which shows up different and isn’t very consistent with the rest of the website)

http://jedisrestaurant.com/  -rule number 5 (the background color choice/pattern makes it hard to read the content)

We live in a world that's globally connected by the internet—that's probably why it's called the world wide web.  To steal a slogan from UPS, I really feel that the internet has been synchronizing the world of commerce for several years now; it's so important in the business world.

I just read an article yesterday morning that mentioned that online ad spending is expected to surpass print advertising for the first time in 2012.  (I've provided the link to the article at the end of my post.)  Because of this amazing milestone in marketing, I don't believe that there could be a better time for us to be taking this course together!

I have a pretty large interest in technology and the internet, that's one of my reasons for enrolling in this course.  My hope is that these interests will be strengthened and enlightened through the topics we'll be covering in class.  I hope that I'll learn all the details about online marketing; how do per-click sales work, how are mobile apps developed, why do companies hire others to send out their mass emails?

This class might just be one of the most interesting classes that I've ever taken at Trinity—I'm sure it won't disappoint.
