Did anyone else hear about Google tracking peoples' browsing histories?

Last week I was reading the Wall Street Journal and I came across this article:  Google's iPhone Tracking

The first paragraph of the article states that "Google Inc. and other advertising companies have been bypassing the privacy settings of millions of people using Apple Inc.'s Web browser on their iPhones and computers—tracking the Web-browsing habits of people who intended for that kind of monitoring to be blocked."

The article goes on to talk about how Google uses this information to provide it to advertising companies—just what we're talking about in class.

Safari is set by default to not allow users' browsing histories to be sent to Google—however, Google was still collecting this information from people who didn't know any better—people whose devices were set up to not transmit that information to Google.

After WSJ initially reported this story, several senators and government regulators have gotten involved with it.  I'm sure this story will be around for a while, proving once again that nothing is private on the internet.
